Rick Robson started Ballarat Bike Repairs after spending most of his life around, or on bikes. Servicing friends and family bikes encouraged his transition into full time servicing and repairs,

The bike connection goes much further. A road rider since he was 11, Rick was building his own race bikes age 13, since then he has built and serviced hundreds of bikes, from kids bikes to Elite Pro' riders bikes.

While working for Bicycle Victoria (Bicycle Network) in 2007 Rick was crushed under a truck whilst riding to a business meeting. After months of rehabilitation and learning to walk again, he studied Photography in Melbourne and worked as a freelancer for CycleSport Victoria. This led to working in the UK, for Cycling magazines - producing over 400 hundred pages of content for Cycling Magazines and books. As well as more unusual projects such as poster billboards, vinyl record centre pictures, photography for a feature film and even a peloton image for the back of a truck. He then worked for a large UK-based worldwide bike retailer (Merlin Cycles) as a copy writer and then marketing manager until 2023.

Seven years in Bike Marketing reinforced Rick's belief that bikes are 'over-marketed'! As bikes evolve and develop, they are gradually moving away from simple, basic & fun to being more complicated, over engineered, complex and expensive. Ballarat Bike Repairs aims to keep used bikes working at their best, for longer.

As well as working most of his adult life with bikes and almost dying on a bike, he also met his wife while both riding bikes. So, Rick's lifelong history and knowledge in bikes runs deep.
